I just watched this movie for the first time.
It’s based on a true story of a soldier who was brutally murdered by another soldier in his unit, because he had fell in love with transgendered nightclub performer.
This happened in 1999 at Fort Campbell, KY. I was raised in Clarksville, TN which is basically connected to Fort Campbell. I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of it until just recently.
The movie hits home, though.
This story just breaks my heart and it’s also probably one of the reasons that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was repealed (among other reasons).
